with a mdtab like /dev/md0 raid0,8k,0,7addcad1 /dev/sdb2 /dev/sda3

In Kernel-version 2.9 everything worked fine.

I think you'll need to grab the latest raidtools and man mkraid. Look at the -o, --upgrade option. The tools can be found at.. ftp.xx.kernel.org/pub/linux/daemons/raid/alpha/

With the new raid code, you set up an etc/raidtab and raidstart -a or you can set your devices to automagically start with no intervention.

*Oergs* Ill try that - But i dont think it was a good idea for that change withing the 2.2 kernels ... Even it was completely undocumented as far as i can see. This might cause problems for a lot of people as i think the number of people using raid/md is increasingly rapidly. In the unstable debian tree i found an raidtools2_0.90.990724 - I compiled it for "slink" the stable Debian 2.1 and put it at ftp://ftp.rfc822.org/pub/local/debian/binary-i386 [testing] Ok - thats it ...
