[LV] State of the VAX nation

Hi!

As you might have seen, I've started some hacking these days.

Toolchain
~~~~~~~~~
  Kernel-only compiler builds successfully with current upstream
  binutils and GCC.  It's seems to even be capable of -O2 compilation
  (cf. arch/vax/Makefile, where we used to downgrade to -O1). Really
  nice to see this.
  build_toolchain.sh however, won't build a userland capable
  cross-compiler (and this not a userland capable GCC running on your
  VAX) due to some uClibc issues. (Seems some limits.h bits are
  missing there, quite a minor issue I guess.)
Kernel
~~~~~~
  I've merged Linus's current GIT, which is at about 2.6.23-rc2, and
  also fixed some of the fallout. Fixing this is, though, not yet done
  completely, (*hint* *hint*) I'll accept pull requests.

  As usual, you find the kernel at

	git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jbglaw/vax-linux.git

  If you want to merge Linus's upstream, this is how:

	git pull git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git master

  Current hot-spots are bit-rot in drivers/vax/char/dz.c and some more
  iomem function needed by lib/devres.c .

That's it for now.

MfG, JBG
