 I have made cross-compilation packages available at my site.  Please have 
a look at: "ftp://ftp3.ds.pg.gda.pl/people/macro/RPMS/i386/".  There is 
plenty of other stuff there, but the ones you are after have a 
"vax-linux-" prefix.  Admittedly, there is not too much there, but 
binutils (2.16.1) and gcc (4.0.1) are just enough to work with the kernel.  
They only have a dependency on glibc >= 2.3, which I suppose should hardly 
be a problem for anyone these days.  The corresponding source packages are 
available from a neighbouring directory.

 For anything else you'd need a C library which I have not started working 
on yet (but I'm close).
