[LV] Mailing list archives

Hello folks,

A mailing list without an archive is less than useful. As some of you
may have noticed such is our mailing list. The archive page at
http://mail.pergamentum.com/pipermail/linux-vax/ (referred to from the
list home page at http://mail.pergamentum.com/mailman/listinfo/linux-vax)
is broken.

I notified the list admin back in May, got an ack, pinged him once or
twice again, got no further response and the archive is still broken. As
it is I believe the list can be treated as abandoned and I think it would
be reasonable to move the list to a place that is attended at least a
little bit. And with a working archive, of course. :)

I have one possibility in mind, that is the linux-mips.org site -- I
think I should ba able to arrange hosting there and we do have a decent
archive (and spam filters) there. Another possibility could be kernel.org
(Jan-Benedict, what do you think?), though they only seem to rely on
external archives and the admins can be harsh at times. ;)

While doing this I think we should gather all the archives in one place
-- the old ones at montana.edu are still in place and hopefully the site
admin will send us a copy in a reasonable format. The missing ones from
pergamentum.com I could recreate from my personal e-mail archive; I hope
no message has been dropped as I had occasional delivery problems.

 Comments?

  Maciej
