linux + quake3

Hat schon mal jemand Quake3 unter Linux anständig gespielt? 
(fps > 20) Ich hab das alles eingerichtet und installiert und es
funktioniert 
auch. Leider nur mit ungefähr 0.001 fps. Das Menü stockt total und der
Sound hackt.
Das Problem hab ich schon von mehreren gehört. Weis jemand was da zu tun
ist?

(Red Hat 7.0 / Voodoo Banshee / PII 450 / 192 MB RAM / X4.0 / K 2.2.16)
