Probleme mit pppd

Hallo Liste,


ich habe einen Laptop mit einem Lucent Winmodem,
SuSE 7.3 mit Kernel 2.4.17. Ich hab mir die Treiber
von Linmodems.org heruntergeladen und kompiliert.
Das ging auch wunderbar, die Module lassen sich auch
laden. Wenn ich nun mit wvdial eine Verbindung 
herstellen will, wird die Verbindung sofort wieder
beendet. Foldende Fehlermeldung erscheint :

CONNECT 46666 NoEC

in /var/log/messages steht folgendes :

Hat jemand eine Idee woran das liegen könnte und wie ich das
Problem beseitigen kann ?
