Alternativ hab ich gerade rausgefunden kann man auch den "local"
transport verwenden, wenn man dafür sorgt, daß getpwnam(3) zu
erfolg führt, sprich nicht nur in der passwd nachschaut sondern
auch im ldap (was auch noch einen Haufen anderer Probleme löst).
Das kann man dadurch erreichen, daß man den nscd startet. 
Wieder drei Tage umsonst rumkonfiguriert. *in die Tischplatte beiß*
