Fonts unter X (Beispiel Gimp)

Hi Liste,

irgendwie habe ich nur eine begrenzte Anzahl Fonts im Zugriff unter X.
OpenOffice (wo man ja manuell die Fontpfade konfiguriert) bietet mir
deutlich mehr Fonts an, als ich z.B. unter The Gimp finde.

In der /etc/X11/fs/config habe ich aber alle mir auf meinem System
bekannten Font-Pfade eingetragen:

catalogue = /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi,
        /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi,
        /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc,
        /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1,
        /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo,
        /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/CID,
        /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/util,
        /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/local,
        /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo,
        /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/truetype,
        /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF,
        /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/cyrillic,
        /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/freefont,
        /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/sharefont,
        /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/ukr,
        /usr/share/fonts/default/Type1,
        /usr/share/fonts/corefonts,
        /usr/share/fonts/afms/adobe,
        /usr/share/fonts/freefont

Aber irgendwie werden nicht alle Fonts über den XFS angeboten. So habe
ich z.B. unter Gimp oder xfontsel weder Corefonts noch Freefonts.

Hat' da mal wer einen Tipp zur Fehlersuche ...?
