Umlaute mal wieder

Hi,
ich habe mal wieder eins dieser unsaeglichen umlautprobleme unter
Debian/Sid.

Aus irgendeinem grund sind die mal wieder verschwunden - Als erstes das
input problem

  xterm / bash -> geht nicht
  xterm / ash -> geht
  gnome-terminal / bash -> geht nicht
  gnome-terminal / ash -> geht nicht
  console / bash -> geht nicht
  console / ash -> geht

Also mal zumindest ein problem mit libncurses oder libreadline was ja
bash dependencies sind. inputrc kontrolliert. Alles super input/output
8bit gesetzt. Alle 3 pakete haben keien bugs diesbezueglich auf und ich
scheine mal wieder zu doof.

Output Problem:
ssh -> remote kiste
mail mit umlauten im Mutt aufmachen -> Umlaute sind schoene rauten.
