XFree86 Monitor Problem

Hallo,

ich habe bei meinem neuen Rechner ein Problem dass der Monitor zu 95% nicht 
richtig erkannt wird und nur 800 x 600 dargestellt. Ab und zu klappt es 
komischerweise. Einen Zusammenhang habe ich dafuer nicht erkennen koennen. Es 
liegt wohl am Monitor selber (alter CRT), denn an einem anderen, neueren CRT 
funktioniert es immer. Im Log beim "Gut"-Fall kommt vor dem Erkennen der 
Grafikkarte "Unable to read EDID for display device CRT-0" im Fehlerfall 
kommt diese Meldung nicht. Ich habe schon jede Menge gegoogelt dazu und 
verschiedene Parameter in XF86Config-4 probiert:

Die Modeline Parameter habe ich mir mit den Horizontal und Vertikal Frequenzen 
ausrechen lassen. Hat aber alles nichts geholfen. Der Monitor kann die obigen 
Frequenzen bei 1280x1024 und 85Hz. An einem anderen Rechner ist er immer so 
gelaufen.

Vielleicht hat jemand einen guten Tip ? Ansonsten warte ich bis der neue 
Monitor kommt ...
