kill program on no output

Hi,
kennt jemand ein schoenes tool was ein child process killed wenn der keinen
output mehr auf stdout erzeugt? Im moment habe ich einfach das dingen
mit "timeout" gestartet und so stirbt halt jeden tag einmal - Aber ich will
es ja eigentlich nur killen wenn es "tot "ist ...
