Subject: [ILUG] UKUUG *considering* hiring an Open Source Lobbyist
I just got some snail-mail from the UKUUG (UK Unix Users Group)
which some people may be interested in. I typed the following
in by hand, so any errors are mine.
please note the emphasis is in the original ....
- -----------------
Open Source Lobbyist
UKUUG is *considering* employing someone on a part time basis
for a new role concerned with promoting open systems.
Basically, we envisage some of the role and tasks to be:
+ To inform, educate, and influence on the benefits of open
systems, and of free/open source software in particular.
This will also involve lobbying influential groupings.
They will also need to deal with the press and make
appropriate and timely contributions there.
+ Seeking and securing alliances with those with interests
in this area, and obtaining sponsorship/funding both for
the future costs of their job and also to assist other
FL/OSS (free-libre/open source software) activities.
Should you be interested in doing this job, or know of anyone
suitable for the role, please contact [ Charles Curran (UKUUG
Chair) ] or the UKUUG office as soon as possible. Similarly
if you have any suggestions or concerns about this activity
(the job), please contact [ the UKUUG ].
